You've got red on you.

Today was a good day. I slept forever and didn't wake up until 11:00, at which point I went and ate dim sum. I would tell you where I went, but I don't want too many white people there. Yes, I'm profoundly paranoid, and I do know that basically nobody but Anna reads my silly little musings, but still. Be nice to me and I might take you. It is cheap and delicious.

I then watched Shaun of the Dead for what was, literally, probably at least the twentieth time. I keep waiting for this movie to stop being so amusing to me, but it just keeps going. I've decided that I want a cricket bat for Christmas. Primarily so I can beat up zombies in style should the occasion arise, but also just because it's nifty and British and I've wanted one ever since I saw This is Spinal Tap. Also, stupid factoid of the day, I collect cricket balls, so it would go nicely with that. (Note: to be fair, my collection of cricket balls consists of one that my dad bought me in Bermuda, and another one that is technically my grandfather's but that he has promised to me after he... well, you know. Buys the farm. Kicks the bucket. Casts off. Wow, I've taken a morbid turn. Back to the happiness.)

Whilst watching my favorite zombie romantic comedy, I worked on my stupid, stupid, ugly Branching Out scarf. You may recall this appearing in previous blog entries where I cursed my decision to make the darn thing out of mohair, that most evil of fibers. Well, I frogged it (knitting parlance for "ripped the damn thing out and put the yarn back on the skein") and set the pattern aside, knowing that the time would come for me to do the scarf with another yarn. Well, I was fool enough to sign up for the Ravelympics, an event on Ravelry (which, Anna, you REALLY should join... it's like an ocean of knitting joy) where you pick a project and attempt to complete it within the window of the Opening and Closing ceremony of the Olympics. So I thought to myself, "Ooh, I'll do the Branching Out scarf in this green wool I've had laying about, and it will be quite lovely." This is because I am delusional. The green wool may be nice, but Branching Out is lace knitting, and I am starting to wonder if I am cut out for it. I am constantly worrying that I'm doing something unorthodox in my knitting that will cause my scarf to not have a lovely leaf pattern but to just be a blur of messed-up stockinette stitch. Oh well. We'll see when the sucker is blocked and I'll post a photo and you can judge for yourself.

In other news, my lovely friend Dan just returned from a long journey and brought me lemon-y tea from Nepal and sandalwood incense from Tibet. Since people in the dorms are ridiculous about not letting you burn ANYTHING, I've turned some of the incense into a sachet-type thing. I drank the tea today, though, and it was pretty darn good.
